"I
received your letter..."

. . . sitting in the living room
with ice tea, several Bibles, and a box of Kleenex. As I filled
in the blanks of the Faith and Healing Study, it became clear to
me this would have an impact on me, not just for the present,
but for the future as well.
Let's refresh your mind of the history of my illness. (I
promise to be brief.)
Jan. 1988 to the doctor after feeling flu-like for the past 3
mo. (nothing wrong)
July 1988 cardiac palpitations, and irregularities after
testing (all neg. see a psychiatrist)

Two weeks spent at Mayo
|
|
|
|
During the next year visited a
psychiatrist, gastroenterologist, surgeon (had gall bladder
removed), visited emergency room twice, urologist, lung
specialist, hospital admission (admitting prognosis-food
poisoning, discharge diagnosis-mental work ahead, get a good
psychiatrist AGAIN).
May 1989 - Two weeks spent at Mayo, saw Internist, OB-GYN,
urologist, cardiologist, neurologist, lung specialist, and
another gastroenterologist (final diagnosis: stress, get a good
psychiatrist).
From May to Aug. did see a psychiatrist (conclusion after 6
visits,"there is nothing wrong mentally, continue to look
for a good physician who believes in you, I feel there is a
chemical imbalance within your body").
August, admitted to hospital after several visits to the ER.
Saw an internist, neurologist, cardiologist, OB-GYN, lung
specialist, and a psychiatrist (final diagnosis, Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome, something I'll have to learn to live with, and that it
is possible).

I
wanted to fill in the blanks
|
|
|
Went to Northwestern Book Store
looking for a study book on faith and healing. I did not want
testimony, I wanted to know what the Lord had to say about
healing. I wanted to fill in the blanks and do research for the
answers. I was put in contact with Mary Graff’s study and
BINGO. Every evening for six weeks I sat on the couch and
studied. It was encouraging and exciting to read:
- Matthew 8:17: He took our infirmities and bore our
sicknesses.
- John 10:10: I have come that they might have life
and that they might have it more abundantly.
- Proverbs 4:20-22: Attend to my words,.... They are
life to those who find them and health to all their flesh.
- Mark 11:24: Whatever you desire, when you pray
believe that you will receive them and you shall have them.
Two months after discharge from the hospital I was back
teaching and writing curriculum. It was a slow process but at
least I felt human again for the first time in three years.

It's
a humbling experience to say the least
|
|
|
|
We need to trust in God, believe
in Him wholly, do not ever doubt HIM or HIS will. Only through
God can we find meaningful answers to all the questions of life.
I believe healing occurs with a perfect match between
patient, physician and the inclusion of a Loving God. Too many
times we assume the responsibility of wellness ourself, we're
actually missing the main piece of the puzzle . . . the maker of
all and the person who can fix anything IF we allow Him to. We read
about healing miracles in the Bible all the time . . . to
experience one has allowed me to feel what it must have been
like to have Jesus touch and say, "You are healed!"
When hearing or reading these stories I always say to myself,
"Yup, and I believe!" It's a humbling experience to
say the least.
Blessings to you Mary as you continue on your journey
spreading God's word in a unique, honest and real way. You truly
are a gift and have touched more people than you probably
realize. Please remember to take care of yourself also.
